About the Author

I am admittedly a writer much more fascinated with stories than poetry, which means that my favorite poems are ballads and romances, which preserve traces of long forgotten truths through legends – all the more fascinating because they are enigmatic. My writing reflects those same preoccupations with mystery, poetry, and story. My forthcoming mystery novel, Back to the Garden (5 Star Mysteries, January 2013 – and, yes, it’s a Woodstock novel) is grounded in the legendary border ballads of Tam Lin and Thomas the Rhymer. And I am currently at work on a contemporary fantasy novel involving dream-walking and the lyrics of the Provencal troubadours, as well as a completely traditional mystery involving a long dead Wagner singer, a cache of Nazi art, and the legends of Tannhauser and the Flying Dutchman.
